Helping pups and their people thrive.

Positive dog training from basics to behavioral challenges.

Build the best relationship with your dog.

Hi, I’m Liv Arent…

I am a certified dog trainer who loves to recreate in the outdoors with my dogs. We love to hike, ski, bike, paddle board, swim and more. Let’s be honest, life is more fun with a dog!

Not every dog is ready to go on every adventure; some dogs have a hard time coping with every day life. If you have a dog like that, you are not alone. I have two dogs with big feelings, so I understand how challenging it can be!

I have worked with my dogs to have a great, trusting relationship, clear communication, and a toolbox of skills so we can navigate any situation and enjoy an adventure filled life together. I can help you do the same with your dog by learning how your dog communicates, building skills together, and meeting their needs consistently.

I am happy to help you with basics like loose leash walking and not jumping to greet people, to behavioral challenges like reactivity, fear, and aggression, to learning a new dog with your dog like mountain biking. Dogs are not trying to misbehave, they just need to be shown what we expect them to do in certain situations. Reach out and let’s get you started on your next adventure!

Relationship based, positive training

It is more important how you make your dog feel than what you make them do. The relationship you have with your dog is key to enjoying life together. Build the best relationship between you and your dog through positive reinforcement, meeting their needs, and simply enjoying each other. There are small changes that you can make to your daily routine that will make huge changes for you and your dog. The stronger your relationship is, the more adventures you can enjoy together.

  • Relationship Focused

A good relationship is built on trust and good communication. The relationship you have with your dog is no different. Having a great relationship with your dog is key to having a great life together.

  • Empathy

Your dog has feelings, desires, and needs just as you do. Your dog is not trying to be bad, they are having a hard time and need your help to show them more desirable behaviors. We can help them to be their best selves by meeting their needs consistently.

  • Positive Reinforcement

It is scientifically proven that using positive training methods produces more effective and longer lasting training results. Dogs actually enjoy the learning process and know good things come from you when they listen.

  • Data Driven

You can track the progress you and your dog are making through data driven training plans. Training is not linear, but when there is a consistent downward trend we can get to the root and get back on track when using data in training.

  • "I have been working with Liv and trail pups training for several months for my 22 month old siberian husky Luna. Siberian huskys are VERY difficult to train off leash typically because they are usually very stubborn and have an extremely high prey drive. We got Luna from a breeder at 9 weeks old and I have had her in a lot of different training situations. She has learned a lot of different commands but my primary focus has always been to get her off leash trained mostly for safety reasons but also for her happiness. We tried an E-collar for her and she had a really bad reaction to it. We than went with Liv and in about one month Luna is completely off leash trained on trails! I havent tested it out to see if it is in all situations but I am THRILLED that she is able to run free on the trails. I cant say with enough emphasis how excited I am with Liv and trail pups training! I strongly recommend for any and all aspects of training!"

  • “Liv is an extremely wonderful trainer that I am so happy I found. She is so patient and grounded when it comes to my pitbull who is extremely reactive to other dogs. She even brought along her pooch for some of our exercises to demonstrate the tools she gave me and how well they work. I really don’t know where I’d be without her guidance and knowledge. She is a great resource for dogs and owners alike, I would absolutely recommend her to any dog owner for any type of training or bonding exercises you might be seeking. 10 out of 10!”

  • “Liv is knowledgeable, friendly, and intuitive when it comes to understanding my dog’s dynamic and needs. It was amazing to see the transformation in my rescue puppy Holly after just the first session with Liv.

She taught us how to increase Holly’s confidence. In a few days Holly went from always tucking her tail in a scared position to extending and wagging it a lot. I couldn’t stop my puppy from barking in the backyard all the time, and Liv’s guidance helped me quickly stop and redirect the barking to something positive. The activities she recommended allowed Holly to calm down and be less reactive to sounds. “
